Peran Promosi Kesehatan dalam Meningkatkan Pengetahuan dan Sikap Remaja Terhadap Pencegahan Penyakit Menular Berbasis Kearifan Lokal Tahun 2024

Abstract

Infectious diseases, including tuberculosis (TB), HIV/AIDS, and other infectious conditions, continue to pose significant challenges to public health in various countries, Indonesia included. Adolescents, as a vulnerable group, need to have a thorough understanding of how to protect themselves from these diseases. However, numerous factors, such as local culture, influence their knowledge and attitudes towards disease prevention (Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, 2020). The goal of this Community Service initiative is to enhance adolescents' knowledge, enabling them to prevent infectious diseases and maintain good health. The approach used for this program is community-based participatory research (CBPR), which actively engages adolescents and the local community in the planning, execution, and assessment of health promotion activities. The findings of this initiative indicate that using health promotion strategies rooted in local wisdom successfully improved adolescents' knowledge and transformed their attitudes towards preventing infectious diseases. This progress was achieved by incorporating local cultural values into the educational content, which made the program more engaging and relevant for the participants.
